On this day in 1924 Angelo La Barbera was born, he and his brother Salvatore were significant figures in the Sicilian Mafia, leading the family of Palermo Centro. He was also a protagonist in the first Mafia war in the early 1960’s.In 1968 he was charged with 7 murders and sentenced to 22 years, he was stabbed to death in October 28, 1975 by three mobsters while serving time in Perugia.
