On this day in 1954 one of the first mob bosses in Sicily passed away at the age of 76. Calogero Vizzini, or Don Calo as he was also referred to, was born in 1877 and was considered to be one of the most influential Mafia bosses of his time, depicted as a boss of bosses, and a man of honor. When he died in 1954, thousands of peasants dressed in black, and high ranking Mafia members, politicians and priests took part in his funeral.
